I am an independent scholar and socio-cultural researcher. My current research explores the confluence of music, geographical space and labor underutilization. Through juxtaposing black American and Mexican American music genres evidence of dyadic cultural processes emerge. Following Cerulo (1984) and J.C. Lena (2006) the primary focus of this research is to provide a link between legitimate social context and artistic production. //////////////////////////// Born and raised in southern California, I completed my undergraduate studies with a B.A. in Sociology from the Univeristy of California, Riverside. And most recently, my graduate studies with a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (social sciences) from California State University, Northridge. Adjacent to my scholarly/ academic pursuits I am also an education professional with a particular interest in family preservation, urban culture/ structure, and sustainability; as well as general concerns with marginalization, displacement and individual agency.
