...MoreDiane Jonte-Pace served as Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Santa Clara University for seven years, overseeing the Faculty Collaborative for Teaching Innovation, the Faculty Development program, the office of Research and Faculty Affairs, the Undergraduate Studies program, the International Programs office, the Writing Center, and the university’s museum of art and history. Previous administrative roles at Santa Clara University include Accreditation Liaison Officer, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, Chair of the Core Curriculum Implementation Team, and Interim Associate Dean.
A Professor in the Department of Religious Studies, she holds a doctorate from the University of Chicago. Her scholarship focuses primarily on psychoanalytic perspectives on, religion, gender, and culture. Publications include Mourning Religion, 2008; Teaching Freud in Religious Studies, 2003; Speaking the Unspeakable: Religion, Misogyny, and the Uncanny Mother in Freud's Cultural Texts, 2001; and Religion and Psychology: Mapping the Terrain, 2001. Her current publications and research focus primarily on Jesuit education, Ignatian values, and best practices in supporting faculty transitions to retirement.
She and her husband of 41 years, photographer David Pace, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
