Despina Cochliou holds a BSc in Social Work from TEI of Athens and an MSc Econ in Social Development Planning and Management from the University of Wales Swansea. She has obtained her PhD in Social Work from the Department of Social Work & Social Care at University of Sussex. Her PhD explored the impact of social worker’s participation in decision-making processes relating to operational changes, policy implementation and management processes. The aim of this qualitative study was to identify the practitioner’s role in the development and implementation of Management Information Systems and also to establish the links between the utilisation of information systems and the production of organisational knowledge. Her research interests are currently the following: The social care agency as a learning organisation, qualitative methodologies in social work research, Management Information Systems in social services, Organisational knowledge creation in social services.
