I am Danny Garcia, a Graduate Student in the PhD in Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston. In addition, I am an Assistant Professor at the Universidad de Antioquia on a leave of absence, due to my graduate studies. I have an economics background. My bachelor in Science is in economics from the Universidad de Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia). I completed my Master's in Economics at McGill University in Montreal (Canada). I am currently exploring environmental policy as a field of specialization. However, I am also interested in economic development and urban economics.
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and have a Hispanic heritage. My mom is Colombian and my dad is Cuban. We lived eight years in the U.S. and later relocated to Colombia where I got my high school and college education. I am proud of my American and Hispanic backgrounds and I see myself as a American, Colombian and Cuban.
My future projects, after finishing my PhD, are: Consolidating a regional network on environmental and economic development issues in Latin America; developing a joint graduate program in Public Policy at my university in Medellin; and promoting public policies that encourage sustainability, economic growth and equality in my region.
