    Cheryl A. Lindeman, Ed.D., is an assistant professor of education at Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA. She currently teaches preservice elementary and secondary teachers about models of instruction, leadership and mentoring and classroom management. Her scholarly interests include approaches to spark and sustain children’s curiosity in formal and informal settings and developing problem-based learning models based on local environmental events. Previously she taught for over thirty years biology, research, earth science, physical science, and gifted education in secondary schools and community college settings. As a founding faculty member of Central Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Technology, she designed and implemented scanning electron microscopy and biotechnology labs and a science internship program for high school students. Also, she assisted in the establishment of an interdisciplinary research course using inquiry-based learning strategies focusing on students’ passions for STEM fields. As a coauthor/editor (2011) of Schools like Ours: Realizing Our STEM Future (NCSSMST), she researched how STEM schools in the US approach interdisciplinary curricula and partnerships. Currently, she is the director of the regional science fairs serving 5th through 12th grade young scientists and is a frequent presenter a state and national science conferences and workshops.
