  My primary area of academic research involves the history, practice,and philosophy of landscape photogaphy, especially 20th century American. I situate this inquiry within place-based theory, landscape theory/geography, environmental history, environmental ethics, social and environmental justice, and/or spiritual ecology. As a photographer, I am interested in advancing the use of arts-based research methods in the academy and in promoting photography as a valuable embodied practice of coming to know, understand, and ethically respond to land/place.
