  Christina E. Civantos is a Full Professor in the Deaprtment of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Miami (Florida, USA). She researches and teaches modern Hispanic and Arab literary and cultural studies, with a focus on empire and postcolonial studies, nationalisms, the Arab diaspora, and language ideology. Her publications include numerous essays and the two books Between Argentines and Arabs: Argentine, Orientalism, Arab Immigrants, and the Writing of identity (State University of New York Press, 2006) and The Afterlife of al-Andalus: Muslim Iberia in Contemporary Arab and Hispanic Narratives (State University of New York Press, 2017).
