Carmen was formerly a Visual Arts teacher at a Catholic boys’ school in Western Australia for 8 years, and has recently commenced a position at Lumen Christi, a Catholic co-educational secondary school, as Head of Learning Area-The Arts. She has over 15 years teaching experience. Her qualifications include BA (Design), Grad Dip Ed, BFA (Hons), MEd, receiving the John Lake Medal for Excellence in Educational Research for a dissertation titled ‘The Influence of the Postmodernist Shift on the Western Australian Year 12 Visual Arts Syllabus.’ Carmen serves on the Course Advisory Committee for the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and supports the Art Education Association of Western Australia. She has held course support meetings and conducted professional development days on behalf of the Catholic Education Office (W.A.). Carmen has also been a WACE Examiner for both practical and written state examinations and a writer for the Stage 2 WACE Written Examinations.
