Dr. Carole-Lynne Le Navenec (Registered Nurse, with a PhD in Sociology of Aging & Older families and Chronic Illness management strategies) has been a Professor of Gerontological Nursing, Family and Community Mental Health Nursing, Psychiatric nursing and Prison Health Nursing at the University of Calgary for the past several years. The focus of her research program has been on the identification of Indicators of quality of care and quality of life for families experiencing a chronic illness (e.g., dementia, traumatic brain injury, severe mental illness), and the role of music and related creative arts in promoting health and healing in those contexts (see selected publications on the University of Calgary’s Instituitional repository (http://dspace.ucalgary.ca/handle/1880/46847). Since 1998, she has been the Director of the Creative Arts/Integrative Therapies in Health Care Research Group (The CAIT Research group: www.cait.fr.nf). Since 2008, she has been a member of the Faculty for the Brenda Strafford Center of Excellence in Gerontological Nursing (www.geronursingcentre.com). She is former Editor of The Canadian Gerontological Nurse, current board member with the Alberta Association on Gerontology and editor of their quarterly newsletter (AAG MAG), and Editor in Chief of a refereed journal--The International Journal of Nursing Student Scholarship. She is also a board member of the Research on Aging (RC11) committee of the International Socilogical Association .
