Barbara Harrington is an Associate Professor in the Honors College at Azusa Pacific University, in Azusa CA. She has taught screenwriting for many years in the Cinema Department at APU, and in the MFA program in Screenwriting at Pepperdine University. Barbara is the Founder and Chair Emeritus of the globally recognized Act One program (www.actoneprogram.com) to train and mentor young people starting out in Hollywood as writers, directors, and executives. Dr. Harrington is a member of the Writers Guild of America-West and has written and consulted on numerous feature and television project. Her screenplay Fatima, directed by Marco Pontecorvo, and produced by Rose Pictures/Origin Entertainment, is in post-production and will be released in 2019. Dr. Harrington has worked extensively in Hollywood as a script analyst, production company executive, and producer of short films, web series, and theater. She has appeared as a cultural commentator on ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and in the pages of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Premiere magazine, and The Atlantic. Released in January 2015, her book Notes to Screenwriters, was published by Michael Wiese Books and is in use in many university screenwriting programs.
