A former, French immersion teacher (elementary and secondary) and teacher-librarian, Barbara is an Associate Professor (Language and Literacy) in the Faculty of Education, University of Regina. Her teaching and research focus on the transformational possibilities of language, literacy, literature, and the arts for social justice and equity—especially for vulnerable children and youth and their communities. Barbara is particularly concerned about war and its impact on children. She holds an honours BA and MLS from the University of Toronto, B. Ed from Brock University and a PhD from the University of Regina. Along with family, friends, and flowers, some significant values in Barbara’s life relate to cultural grounding, building inclusive communities, and empowerment for self and multiple others.
