Aser García Rada’s Updates

Here I am ;)

Hi!

I´m Aser García Rada, an MD, PhD specialized in pediatrics. I am also an actor and a freelance journalist although I don´t do everything at the same time... usually :)

I am a member of the Spanish Red Cross Basic Healthcare ERU since 2015 when after doing my training I was deployed for a month to Nyarugusu, a camp for refugees in Tanzania hosting 50.000 Congolese that had a sudden similar influx of Burundians due to political unrest in their country.

In 2016 I was deployed during 5 months to Greece, where I worked in Ritsona and Skaramagas, two camps for refugees mostly fleeing the war in Syria or Afghanistan. Although different, both experiences were very intense and definitely broadened my perspective of life.

As a freelance journalist I have been writing for several media, particularly for the medical journal The BMJ. I have linked above the blogs I wrote about the work we developed during both deployments.

Working as an actor is probably the hardest to achieve so far, but I´m definitely making my way :) Currently I´m also working as doctor on set -in case something happens during the shooting of a film but mostly delivering sunscreen or mosquito repellent, not particularly glamorous ;)- Regarding this, don´t miss this year´s premieres of Asghar Farhadi´s Everybody Knows -we are opening Cannes Film Festival!!- and Jacques Audiard´s The Sisters Brothers, a thrilling Western with Joaquin Phoenix and Jake Gyllenhaal, among others!! :)

Well peers, I´m very pleased to share current SAF4ERU training with you all, longing to have an awesome experience!!
