I teach both humanities and philosophy. 3 years ago, I published my book, "The Most Important Crisis Facing the 21st.Century". It is my considered conclusion from years of study and reflection that humanity faces a major crisis in its view of itself and the world around it. One small example of this is that it is almost impossible to find a work of art - in music, painting, sculpture etc. - that portrays a noble conception of humanity, a conception that inspires and lifts up the human spirit. As a plant without water withers and dies, so it is my contention that humanity will suffer the same fate if it continues to hold the view that human beings are mere material entities. It is my contention also that the evidence shows that humanity is more than a mere material entity, and that we need to reflect on this so that we can leave to future generations a basis for inspiration similar to that which Renaissance artists such as Michelangelo left to us.
