@Katie, Its interesting you commented about the students having to "wait for assignments or readings to load and dealing with technology glitches". My computer just locked up and i had to restart. I have friends with elementary age children and they went through issuing tablets to students. If i recall there was a fee the parents had to pay. Of course there are some who expect students to be issued school supplies for a nominal fee. The fees for supplies continue to grow and many parents struggle to make ends meet and pay for school supplies. Fortunately for many there are agencies who collect and donate school supplies to many students to help ease some of the cash burden. As i read more and more about technology in classrooms I often wonder who pays the bills, will the majority of the students be good stewards of the equipment they are issued, and does the most disadvantaged students have access to the web when they are away from school. I am sure these discussion have to come up. It's always good if the students can get new equipment/technology but who foots the bill and how deep does the discussion go for making sure kids are keeping up with the latest technology.
