mentorship throughout the programme

3. Train supervisors in supervisory skills

WHY I selected the above mentioned transformative investment in relation to Papua New Guinea (PNG) context:

“Health workers and managers lack clarity on their roles, rights and responsibilities. They do not receive adequate supervision or on-the-job training” - PNG–Australia Health Delivery Strategy 2011–2015.

The recent outbreak of Polio in PNG, 18 years after the country was declared “Polio Free”, has highlighted, once again, the poor quality of Routine Immunization (RI) service delivery (and subsequent low coverage and herd immunity) in the Country.

A major contribution to the poor quality of Routine Immunization service delivery, in PNG, is the poor capacity of the RI Service Providers.

This transformative investment seeks to improve the capacity oy the Service Provider, through the above priority services.
