Andy Plotkin earned all of his college degrees at Boston University, where he met his life-long mentor, Bernard Phillips, with whom he founded the Interdisciplinary Education Group think tank. During his doctoral studies, Andy taught criminology to the Massachusetts State Police under the auspices of Northeastern University, and wrote environmental impact statements for Environmental Research and Technology. After receiving his doctorate in sociology, Andy taught at public universities in Maine and Massachusetts, and then joined his parents to expand their publishing company, Edna Hibel Corp., and manage the non-profit Hibel Museum of Art. After 30 years, he returned to teaching and tutoring at five local colleges near Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where he lives and raised two children with his wife, Cheryll Rabin, whom he met 47 years ago at Boston University. Andy’s interdisciplinary publications include fiction books and short stories, films, songs, and academic articles, including his most recent, “The Role of the Individual in Post-Bureaucratic Organizations,” published in the Journal of Contemporary Social Sciences.
