  I am generally interested in the constructions of non-racial philosophies or color blind theories about human behavior. My objective is to expose the shortcomings of the human sciences' theoretical standpoints and methodological assumptions when dealing with "race". In my doctoral dissertation, I examine the occurrences of racial equalitarianism in French scientific discourses from the 16th to the 20th century in order to provide an alternative to the current focus on scientific racism. The latter only emphasizes the dichotomy between science and ideology whereas the former presents the idea of progress as problematic in the realm of scientific discourses dealing with human behavior. I believe that this problem concerning the theory of knowledge appears nowhere as clearly as in the common genealogy shared between the theories of racial determinism and that of the Human Sciences in France.
