Andreas Grau studied Social Sciences at the Universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Verona from 1999 to 2005. Until 2005 he was a Research Assistant at the Chair for Organizational and Social Psychology. From 2005 to 2008 he was a Lecturer at the Department of Social Psychology at Dresden University of Technology. Since 2008 Andreas Grau is a Research Associate at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG) at Bielefeld University. Andreas Grau is one of the founders of the special group ‘football and conflict’ at the IKG which was established in 2013. Currently he and his colleagues conduct the ‘Bielefelder Fußballfan-Studie’ (Bielefeld’s football fan study). His main research interests are conflicts between groups, attitudes, prejudice, and right-wing extremism. In 2013 he edited together with Wilhelm Heitmeyer the book “Gruppenbezogene Menschenfeindlichkeit in Städten und Gemeinden” [Group focused enmity in cities and municipalities].
