I am a registered nurse in Saudi Arabia and a practicing registered nurse in British Columbia, Canada. In Saudi Arabia, I did my Bachelor degree in Nursing and graduated in 2004. Right after, I worked as a nursing demonstrator at King Faisal University (KFU) in many departments, such as medical surgical units, emergency departments, and psychiatric outpatients. I also did part-time bedside nursing jobs at emergency departments, intensive care units, and cardiac care units. In 2008, I won a scholarship from KFU to continue my nursing studies abroad, and I moved to Canada. I did my masters at Dalhousie University and graduated August, 2014. Since entering nursing school, my passion has been the work with vulnerable groups, especially women and elderly. Having worked for about six years with elderly patients in different departments and settings, I realize that this group is at risk of being neglected or abused. Thus, I committed to work very closely with this population in order to develop a unique body of knowledge in Gerontology nursing that has the philosophical and theoretical fundamentals that inform the practical world. To achieve this goal, I am currently doing my PhD at University of British Columbia.
