After watching the videos about Greece I noticed several differences about their culture and America’s culture. The first video showed me that Greece has many beautiful places on the island where individuals can appreciate the beauty of nature. I found it interesting that Greece is divided into 13 regions with the capitol Athens. I also found it interesting that wherever you are in Greece you are never 135 KM from the sea. All the rivers are too shallow to be able to swim. I found it crazy that voting is required in Greece and people are not given the choice to choose not to vote. Greece has the highest unemployment rate in the EU which I was not expecting. Greece also has the lowest suicide rate despite the fact that it has the highest unemployment rate. I found it interesting how they introduce themselves in Greece. They give him a tight hug and a kiss when meeting someone new in Greece. That is a way different way of introducing yourself then the way I am used to in the United States. I am excited to learn ideas from other cultures and get a new perspective on life.

Like you, the videos also automatically made me compare American and Greek culture and how different they can be. You mentioned the suicidal rates and the unemployment rate. It sure puts into perspective how much culture/lifestyle plays a part in the whole happiness ultimate goal, doesn't it?
I am very interested in hearing further your opinions in regards to compulsory voting. I was born and raised in a country where voting is also mandatory to every person, 18 and older, so the idea doesn't sound unfamiliar. I can see the pros and cons, and I am always interested in hearing someone else's point of view.
I also found it very interesting that in Greece you are never 135 KM from the sea. That cannot be said for america! Introductions in the Greek culture are very different from those in America. I think it is very cool that in Greece friendships, and relationships with friends and family are very close knitted. Even though Greece has a few traditions that differ from the US, it is very interesting to see how close they are as well.
