Lesson 4: The crucial capacity of a teacher.

Lesson 4: The crucial capacity of a teacher.

In my opinion, an English teacher plays an important role in developing speaking and writing skills, such as formal letters or reports. Students should be able to grasp grammar and vocabulary, from then they could practise their skills like listening or reading. Pronunciation is crucial part in speaking ability of students and it comes with time so teachers should be patient with them. Teacher can organize activities in class to help student practise their pronunciation. Some teachers may also be a part of the administration in the institute where they conduct classes. Many learners have self-study ability with textbook and available materials. But some need tutorial and a teacher may provide private one-to-one tuitions to learners whose first language is not English. In this case, English teacher could apply the following tasks: create lesson plans which is suitable for the student, conduct and grade assignments, assign homework to improve student performance, meet student’s guardians to communicate their progress, direct extra-curricular activities for students. English teachers use many skills to perform their duties well. Apart from teaching, teachers perform various tasks, such as creating lesson plans, doing administrative work and evaluating student projects. Teachers require a sound knowledge of verbal and non-verbal communication, such as making eye contact with students and impart lessons in a way students can understand. Teachers also communicate with parents in written and oral form. Excellent communication skills may also facilitate constructive student interactions. Teachers also needs organisational skills like planing lessons, projects and assessments. Some teachers may be part of other school activities. With so many tasks to handle, it is important for teachers to organise their work and maintain a healthy work-life balance, without compromising on the quality of their classes.
