Essential Peer reviewed Update #4; The positive effect of Authentic Pedagogy in the contemporary education model in developing countries by Kuldeep Singh Guleria


THE POSITION


Education models that exist in the developing countries today have some very prominent gaps that have to be plugged in order to witness a sustained development and progress of pedagogical objectives. In addition to that it is also important to bring in place methods of education which can prepare the education receivers for future profession related challenges. Although the curriculum implemented in such countries is quite comprehensive, the requisite early moulding of the student for preparation towards future qualitative and skill based challenges does not occur. Taking the position then, that the effect of Authentic Pedagogy in the contemporary education model in developing countries is the solution I would like to propose the following additional points in favour of the aforementioned position.


SYSTEMIC APPROACH


The following pints are mentionable in favour of the aforementioned position:
1. It is seen that although the models of didactic pedagogy are somewhat capable of fulfilling the disciplinary aspect of the institutional code of conduct, it does not help in providing the much needed individualised and personalised learning experience. Authentic Pedagogy accommodates that kind of learning.
2. We very well know that all the students cannot be considered as intellectually equal for all purposes. Now that being said it is very important to mention that if that is the case, customised learning codes might be needed. Authentic Pedagogy accommodates that kind of learning too.
3. Due to psychometric challenges and differences among the students, a certain degree of elasticity is needed in the pedagogical methodology. This supports deep learning even in the psychometrically inferior students. Authentic Pedagogy accommodates that kind of learning too.
4. The interests of the child must be considered during the sustained learning periods. This helps in achieving motivated learning. Authentic Pedagogy accommodates that kind of learning too.

All of the arguments above clearly underline the need for authentic pedagogy in the developing countries.
