Use of authentic pedagogical methods in teaching ethical or religious values
I have been involved in mentoring high school students for about a year. More I learn about the differences between "didactic" vs "authentic" pedagogy more I realize usefulness of "authentic" methods in teaching ethical or religious values.
For example: "Architectonic" dimension of authentic pedagogy. Traditionally people go to a church/mosque/synagogue and enter these large spaces and sit in rows listening to a sermon. I am not proposing replacing sermons with group discussions but especially for the young members of the group a more intimate space where they can share their deepest feelings while not being overwhelmed by the space may be more helpful.
I can see how other dimensions of authentic pedagogy can be applied for better results here.
Interesting point of view, big change for religion since is based on rituals and traditions. Would be great way to involve young people who might be interested in it.
