Abstract
This study suggests that patrons, volunteers and ‘friends of museums’ are unique stakeholders different from museum staff and visitors. In fact, these ‘community contributors’ are often overlooked by the former to the detriment of the inclusive museum mission. This paper takes Canadian museum volunteers as a case study in suggesting that multi-cultural volunteer programs are a model for inclusive museums of the future.
