Abstract
This paper offers an in-depth look into the Future Hub, an innovative educational initiative designed to support new curriculums at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, focusing on Global Tourism and Global Studies. It highlights the pivotal role of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in shaping immersive, experiential learning environments. The Future Hub stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of education, where traditional learning paradigms are enhanced through advanced technological integrations. The core of this study is the exploration of how AR and VR technologies are utilized to enrich the learning experience, particularly in the context of Global Tourism and Global Studies. It delves into the developmental journey of the Future Hub, emphasizing the thoughtful design choices, technological innovations, and educational strategies underpinning its creation. Special attention is given to optimizing user engagement and learning outcomes through these interactive technologies. Furthermore, the paper addresses the unique challenges and prospects that accompany the integration of AR and VR into modern educational frameworks. It will dissect how these immersive tools not only facilitate practical skill development and application but also encourage critical thinking and collaborative learning among students. The Future Hub is a groundbreaking venture in immersive learning and this presentation will outline its design, and initial use cases.
