Phenomenology of Food as Lived Experience of the Body

Abstract

This research is a phenomenological examination of food and its interaction with a lived body. The phenomenology of food sways us away from the previously exhausted research on food’s social and cultural meaning rather it digs deeper to understand the need for food and the experience a body undergoes with it. This is secondary research and is built upon arguments by Nietzsche, Roland Barthes, Mary Douglas, Freud, and more. It forms a breakthrough in the area of the recently developed Critical Food Studies. Moreover, it not only marks a pivotal advancement in the field but also unveils promising avenues for further investigation in the realms of Food Philosophy and Critical Food Theory.
