Abstract
This paper analyzes the food industry’s counter-reaction to Chile’s 2016 Food Labeling Law which imposes warning labels on food products that are deemed high in saturated fats, calories, sugar and salt. It attempts to analyze these micro-strategies using Political Science literature and frameworks concluding that the discipline is partially blind sighted when it comes to issues at the intersection of the private and public sector. It then proceeds to create a typology, propose a research agenda and policy recommendations for analysts in other countries considering imposing similar regulation.
