Abstract
During a thoracotomy to correct a cardiac injury at a public hospital in Brazil, the surgeon was informed that he had no steel wire to close the patient’s chest. The surgeon asked the intern to make the video with the cell phone and closed the chest with an inappropriate wire. The following week they released the video, preserving the patient’s identity, to the largest television network in the country and in social medias, mobilizing the entire country for the lack of medical material in public hospitals, creating an effective means of reporting the chaos of public hospitals, based on zero tolerance theory to preserve good emergency care in Brazil. This study reviews this new context.
