Action Learning in Graduate Education: Partnering Students with Organizations to Solve Real-World Problems

Abstract

This discussion is designed to explore the effectiveness of student groups partnering with organizations to address their critical issues using Action Learning, as well as understanding student learning during the process. The discussion focuses around one very successful Action Learning project conducted by Graduate Students at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, USA. This interactive session explores the concepts of Action Learning, along with the challenges of graduate students entering an organization to explore problems, and suggest solutions. Graduate student learning is also explored.
