Abstract
This paper addresses how history has led us down dead-end research and what we know so far about dementias. The paper provides some insight into the future of research and some emerging therapies.The thesis is that dementias need to be viewed similar to cancer, a disease that is complex, unique, and interacts with the environment in ways that we still do not understand.
