Cultural Humility in Collaborative Art Therapy Pedagogy

Abstract

The workshop will illustrate the multicultural, co-facilitation of an art therapy masters-level diversity course. Instructors will present the course in detail, beginning with the dynamics of multicultural co-instruction. Following, the authors will offer tools, techniques, theory, and practice used throughout the course to engage students in the holistic approach of cultural humility when applied to art therapy practice. Art directives will be given to demonstrate directives used within the course. The workshop will conclude with a collective art piece, reporting of challenges and recognitions, conclusions and an interactive question and answer period.
