Abstract
This paper compares diversity used in children’s literature with the intent to write an article with recommendations for librarians, teachers, and care-givers. Children’s books which included a diversity theme were read and rated by the researcher. Books were considered for age appropriateness, readability, read-aloud worthiness, content regarding diversity, and variety of nationalities and ethnicities. Completed work will be compiled and a paper written to guide adults who share literature with children in providing a variety of material which introduces and reinforces children’s awareness of differing cultures, ethnicities, and practices as well as a view of modern-day habits in these areas.
