Dr. Douglas Lia, an Associate Professor of Literacy at Chicago State University, has spent his career in literacy education. In his current position, he teaches undergraduate pre-service teachers literacy methodology. He works with graduate students in facilitating the writing of their Master’s thesis. He has held both full-time and adjunct positions for over 20 years in public and State universities teaching both graduate and undergraduate literacy. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Lia held administrative positions in public schools guiding literacy on the district and school site level. He was a classroom teacher at the primary, middle and high school levels. He has spoken at numerous local, State and national conferences. His areas of research interests include literacy, diversity and early childhood education. He has published articles in various reading journals and recently published his first children’s book.
