Abstract
“Visitors and Visions: How a university, a prison arts program, and a private trust forged a transformative partnership in Alabama” documents, through narrative and reflective writing, the process through which dependable funding and staffing of a statewide creative writing program in state prisons came into existence and is sustained, citing guiding concepts such as timeliness, institutional climate readiness, recognition and development of key players, the approach of building “from small and meaningful to large and meaningful,” and the importance of a “three legged stool” approach at every layer of collaboration.
