Response to Prompt: Why colonists were concerned about a particular issue? and how do you think the new government would address it?
The intolerable act was about the set of laws that the British Parliament had put on to Massachusetts as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party. The colonists were concerned about this issue because they felt as though this was a complete threat to their freedom. The parliament was taking over town meetings and choosing people as memebers of the council as well as lodging British soldiers into the homes of the colonists. This was not only a violation of freedom, but also of authority and privacy. I think that our government today wouldn't take away the freedom of the colonists but they would probably set a restriction.
Since Donald Trump is president and most of the congressmen are in his favor, I think they would obviously not take away white and rich people's freedom. I am not sure that he will give us, the minorities , the same opportunity. Do you still think our current government will give all of us the same opportunity?
Common Sense, attempted to call attention to the fact that the only way the government is so horrible is because of the king himself. It was to show that there was no freedom until there was no hierarchy in charge of the colonists. I don't really see a connection between Common Sense and the intolerable act except for the fact that they really blamed Britain for taking away their freedom.
