background-color: transparent; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">One of the things that I’ve been constantly hearing recently is “Localize” which means that to make something be relatable by changing it into a context that is familiar to certain people depending on the expected audience that will receive it. This is actually done to cater to students because not all students in classrooms are the same in terms of their background, culture, and experiences.

Localized learning actually helps students to grasp a certain topic easily when they relate to the context or the examples given in discussions or in activities. This builds rapport to the students which can be a driving part to motivate learners in engaging withthelesson knowing that they relate to it. One example of this is when there's a couple who is in a relationship among the student in the class and the teachers would make an example about relationship that is still relevant to the lesson as well as relatable and students would often call out names or tease them which breaks teh ice and creates a light atmosphere to the class taht can be a beginning of engagement and a wake up call to start to listen. Moreover, one of the things I learned in my Language Learning materials development class, is that teachers should bridge the gap between lessons and learners in terms of its relevance because if it is not relevant to the learners then why are they still learning it? One example of this is using a tourism ad from the Philippines when tackling vacation spots instead of international destinations, students can relate to localized contexts that are closely related to them, or something that is familiar to them. This also allows students to engage with the cultrue of their own country.

To conclude, localized learning is a helpful tool in gaining the students interest and actually understanding and relating to the lesson. This allows students to engage with the discussion knowing it tackles something that is relevant to them and is deeply involved. This goes to show that, in tackling a lesson one could use lozalized context instead of the general thata re mostly westernized which learners can actually understand and comprehend.
