This is a concept I always observe in schools as a student. The term may be new but the concept of it is actually not rare for us.

Peer-to-peer learning happens when students collaborate to teach and learn from each other. This is actually a solid practice if you think about self-regulated learning or thinking about interactive and student centered learning which is prominent nowadays. This allows students to truly participate within the school notjust by attending and listening to class but to actually contribute to the learning of others. I remember when I was in elementary school, we have a remedial class for the students that are behind the lessonor class but instead of teachers, the top students who got the highest score in the exercise will be the ones who teach the lesson. To experience it, I actually agree if we talk about the explanation of the process, peers are actually easier to understand than teachers because the gap in knowledge and speaking can also become a barrier when explaining the concepts between teacher and students but with peer-to-peer learning, it is just like a deep talk between students butinstead of stuff, they talk about the lessons in class. Another example of this are the book clubs or literary circles that are conducted in the class which clearly adheres to the concept of peer-to-peer learning where students share their insights among peers regarding the book that they have read which is actually fun and engaging for the students.

To conclude, peer-to-peer learning enables students to be a contributor of knowledge rather than a receiver. This practice also allows them to be socially active in class which actually boosts student engagement and motivation to learn. It is a practice that doesn't feel forced and boring, it is just like a talk among peers which is something that comes naturally.
