ql-align-justify">Ubiquitous learning (or u-learning) is defined as learning that occurs anywhere and at any time. Because of the devices we carry in our pockets and the cloud-based environments we work in, the classroom is now wherever we happen to be, and the lesson happens whenever we are ready to engage with it. That's why classes or courses in the 21st century now could possibly happen in an online modality which creates a less hassle situation especially for learners who have to juggle with heavy responsibilities. This signifies a transition from simply absorbing information from face to face to becoming active contributors of knowledge in a world that is always connected online. A perfect illustration of this shift is the rise of Massive Open Online Courses, or MOOCs.

These platforms went further with the idea of a traditional university course that can be accessed by thousands or even millions of learners at once. MOOCs do not only limit themselves to learning material such as videos of lectures and activities; these are global communities that enable participation from anyone, allowing a student even in a remote location to engage in the same discussions as a professional in different majors. For instance, the platform such as Coursera attracts thousands of participants who interact via global discussion forums and peer-assessment strategies. This is interpersonal learning at its best, where the focus moves from a student working in isolation on a private file to a collaborative environment of peer review and shared discovery. MOOCs emphasize the continuous nature of learning, enabling us to integrate education into our daily lives may it be for the boundaries of professional development or personal enrichment.

In this manner, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) serve as a primary example of ubiquitous learning in practice as they embody the concept by offering open enrollment, online delivery, and scalable participation to a global audience regardless of their geographical location or educational background. While some MOOCs may simply reproduce traditional didactic methods by placing lectures on video, the most effective approaches make use of digital features to support a global community where learning is ongoing, clear, and smoothly part of the learner's daily routine.
