In the Philippine context, EDM can support schools in addressing low performance in Mathematics by giving data-driven insights that improve instruction and curriculum planning. It can also help predict students who may be at risk of failing and guide teachers in designing personalized learning experiences. However, there are also challenges in implementing EDM in the Philippines, such as limited internet access, lack of technological resources, insufficient teacher training, and concerns about data privacy. Educational data mining may also focus too much on numerical performance and may not fully explain students’ motivation, attitudes, family background, or anxiety toward Mathematics.

One example of research related to educational data mining in Mathematics is a study conducted in Philippine schools that used students’ online quiz scores and learning behaviors to predict academic performance in Mathematics subjects.
