To further reinforce the link between oral and written communication, students are frequently asked to write or adapt their own scripts.

First, they read the script on their own, then I read through it line by line with them, asking if they have ideas as to what the lines mean, and discussing any ideas they have related to the meaning. As I break down each line, I go through the process of script analysis, demonstrating how to search for the meanings of particular words, then applying those definitions to our shared understanding of the meaning. Finally, students are rewarded for their work and attention with a video of a professional actor performing the monologue they just analyzed so they can see the result of good script analysis (Bookey, 2022). This aids in their knowledge of how spoken language may shape interpretation in ways that go beyond written language. Students examine the script's vocabulary, sentence structure, and conversation while also developing the linguistic dimension.

Moreover, the critical dimension is present when students evaluate how meaning is constructed in the text and decide how to present it to an audience. They recognize that texts are adaptable so they can be understood in a variety of ways. Students' ability to communicate their own ideas and viewpoints through the creation or modification of scripts further highlights the creative dimension. Because students must comprehend themes, characters, and emotions before turning them into powerful oral performances, the cognitive component is also clearly visible.

This requires comprehension, critical thinking, and decision-making. Additionally, because Reader's Theater tends to be collaborative, the social dimension is important. Students develop their communication and cooperation skills as they collaborate, assign responsibilities, and plan their shows.
