ql-align-justify">As a future educator, we are always reminded that we should consider students who have learning differences. We should understand that learners do not learn in the same way or at the same pace, as there are some learners who grasp the lessons quickly while others need more time to fully understand the content of the lesson. Therefore, as educators, we have to challenge ourselves on thinking of appropriate strategies, methods and techniques that we can integrate into our classroom to support these learning differences effectively.

The literacy strategy that could be used in supporting learners' different learning paces is SCAFFOLDING. When we say scaffolding in education it is a teaching technique where teachers deliver lessons in distinct segments, providing less and less support until the students master the new concepts or topic. This technique helps students with a framework for learning as they improve and strengthen their understanding, as well as their comprehension. For example in an English class, the teacher may show learners an educational video of subject-verb agreement then have them take a short quiz guided by subject-verb agreement rules provided by the teacher. After the discussion on the topic, during which the teacher shows examples of proper use of subject verb agreement and answers learners’ questions, learners may retake the quiz without less guidance to measure their understanding and comprehension.

Scaffolding benefits learners by allowing learners to follow discrete steps to master concepts or the content of the lessons as scaffolds also allows teachers to demonstrate, guide, then let the learners to support their own learning. To synthesize, scaffolding is an effective way to help students succeed in grasping and understanding the content of the lesson. This enables students to develop autonomy and independence in the classroom. This teaching technique has already been proven especially effective to education as this bridges students' learning gaps in traditionally difficult subject content.
