For Teachers

This opening section serves to introduce the core paradigm shift from Literacy to Multiliteracies. The theoretical foundation is based on the seminal work of the New London Group (1996), who argued that education must account for two major phenomena: the multiplicity of communication channels and media, and the increasing cultural and linguistic diversity in societies. The pedagogical strategy here is designed for Situated Practice. By asking learners to connect the concept to their own environment, we activate prior knowledge and make the abstract theory relevant to their lived experiences. This approach ensures that learners see the immediate relevance of what they are studying.

Update 2: Understanding Modes of Meaning

Meaning is rarely created through just one mode. In fact, we use different "modes" or resources to express ourselves. These include the Linguistic mode, which refers to vocabulary and grammar; the Visual mode, which includes images, colors, and layout; the Audio mode, such as music and tone of voice; the Gestural mode, involving body language and movement; and finally, the Spatial mode, which is about the arrangement and organization of items.
