Feedback matters in all that we do because it helps us understand how well we are progressing and whether we are achieving our intended goals. I learned that in the module. In learning, feedback becomes a powerful tool for meaning-making, allowing students to reflect, adjust, and improve continuously. For example, in my teaching practice, instead of simply asking students to read and answer comprehension questions, I ask them to create a short video presentation explaining the lesson. After presenting, they receive feedback from their classmates, who comment on clarity and creativity, and from me, focusing on content accuracy and organization. Students also reflect on their own performance. Through this process, they immediately see how well they understood the lesson and how they can improve, making feedback an active and meaningful part of learning.

This idea is strengthened through recursive feedback, which involves continuous input from multiple sources such as peers, teachers, self-assessment, parents, and even digital tools. In modern classrooms, feedback is no longer a one-time event but an ongoing cycle supported by both humans and technology. Machine-mediated feedback, such as automated responses in quizzes or writing tools using natural language processing, allows students to receive immediate insights into their performance.

Recursive feedback aligns with formative and continuous assessment practices. Learners are assessed regularly through quizzes, diagnostic tests, and computer adaptive testing, which adjust based on their level of understanding. These are often criterion-referenced, meaning students are evaluated based on set standards rather than being compared to others. This encourages mastery and personal growth.

To conclude my understanding, feedback is essential in shaping effective learning experiences. With the help of recursive feedback and modern assessment tools, students are better supported in their journey toward deeper understanding and continuous improvement. Like what Brennan says, Part of being a creative agent in the world is making sense of the feedback you get — listening to other people’s opinions, making sense of those, taking what is going to be helpful for you, and put aside that which is not helpful. In those moments, kids are making sense of the world and advancing their learning and thinking.”
