ql-align-justify"> One dimension of learner differences that is evident nowadays is the way they learn or their preferred learning style. I always hear from our professor or teachers that kids nowadays have short attention spans and are mostly visual learners therefore we should make an effort to learn about our learners more so that we know what suits best for them. Learning styles does not only limit to Visuals but there are also auditory, reading or writing, and kinesthetic learners or known as VARK.

In handling students with different learning styles, we have to be more creative and engage in creating a strategy or lessons so that it would not only cater to a few students but to include them as one. One best strategy in addressing these differences would be using multimodal instruction that integrates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements to the lesson such as videos that combine text and visual for visual learners, and also audio recordings to support the auditory learners. On the other hand, kinesthetic learners can be engaged in activities that involve roleplaying, or creating something to present ideas. Moreover, a group task is also an engaging way to address their differences since in a group task there are roles that are needed to be filled and that is where each member or students can show their skills and what they are capable of. In that way, peers may also be a support pillar in enhancing the student’s confidence and engagement with the lesson as well as in participating in the task. Additionally, teachers can also use graphic organizers, charts, or infographics that are well utilized nowadays and is proven efficient and engaging by various people since it does not only contain texts that may be boring as it is but there is visual images for students to further understand and grasp the lessons more efficiently, thus the visual in there does not only serve for aesthetic purposes but to actually support learners in understanding the lesson better and to retain the information.

To conclude, addressing the different learning styles of the students requires knowledge of not only technology, but also pedagogy. Thus, teachers should always be flexible and be adaptable when it comes to creating lessons or activities so that they can utilize current available resources for multimodal teaching, and differentiated instruction that fits best with the learners. By adapting strategies to fit how students learn best, teachers can actually improve engagement, participation, and overall literacy development of the learners.
