Defining the Concept

AI-Mediated Dialectical Feedback is a recursive process where an artificial intelligence agent acts as a "Socratic provocateur" rather than a mere grader. In a traditional recursive loop, a student submits work, receives feedback, and revises. However, the "dialectical" approach introduces a synthetic tension. The AI analyzes the student’s claim (thesis), generates a counter-argument or identifies a conceptual gap (antithesis), and prompts the student to integrate these perspectives into a more sophisticated revision (synthesis).

Unlike standard automated feedback that focuses on grammar or surface-level rubric compliance, this concept leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to facilitate metacognitive scaffolding. It ensures the "recursive" nature of the task isn't just repetitive editing, but a genuine evolution of thought.
