Project-based learning or the PBL is an instructional approach wherein the students learn by actively engaging in real-world at the same time meaningful projects. Instead of memorizing facts, students explore problems, asks questions, and make an outputs showcasing their understanding. With this kind of approach, the learning process is just as important as the final product.

PBL encourages students to take ownership of their learning. They work over an extended period to examine the topic, integrating multiple subjects such as science, math, and communication skills. Here, teachers act as facilitators wherein they guide the students rather than giving directly the answers.

For example, in science class, students may be tasked to design a disaster preparedness plan for their chosen community. They will research natural hazards, analyze the risks, and propose their solution. At the end of the project, they will present their work through posters, videos, or reports. Through this, it will not only develop their knowledge but also builds collaboration, critical thinking, and even problem-solving skills.

This kind of approach is highly effective because it connects learning to real-life scenarios. Here, learners will see the relevance of what they studied in which it will increase their motivation and engagement in class. It also prepares them for future careers where teamwork and innovation are highly important or necessary.
