ql-align-justify"> The writing process is the third unit of the cognitive process approach. This unit is composed of the stages of planning, translating, and reviewing. Planning refers to content production and organization (Graham, 2006). During the translation stage, opinions are transformed into written language, and the writer addresses numerous details of written language such as syntax, grammar, and spelling. During review, the writer reads to develop the text or correct any errors. Constant monitoring during the writing process serves to determine the transitions from one phase to another (Flower & Hayes, 1981).

The process writing approach, which focuses on writing as a sequence of steps rather than a single assignment, is one approach to learning to write that I came across. Students go through procedures including conceptualizing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing rather than generating a finished piece right away. This happened to me in school when we had to turn in several essay versions with criticism at every turn.

From a learning perspective, this approach is based on the idea that writing is continuous, which implies that authors continuously shift between stages instead of adhere to a rigid sequence. Furthermore, it represents a student-centered approach to learning in which the emphasis is on the writer's development rather than merely assessing what is written. Here, feedback is crucial, particularly peer review, which enables students to see various writing styles and concepts and learn from one another.
