ql-align-justify"> As an education student, an important site of multimodal communication in my students’ lives is YouTube. So, Youtube offers not just for entertainment, but also educational videos, tutorials, and interactive content that have multiple features such as spoken language or sign language, written captions, images, gestures, background music, animations, facial expression, and visual demonstrations.

Youtube is a powerful tool in the field of education. It is an accessible educational resource featuring diverse contents–supplementing learning. This tool is beneficial for targeting students with different learning styles and needs. Compare it with students just relying on printed information or simple text, in Youtube, students are gathering information as they engage with videos that combine visuals and audio.

With our advanced technologies, teachers can definitely integrate new strategies for improving student learning, engagement, and participation. Youtube also helps for encouraging students creativity, it is greatly beneficial as it provides opportunity for student-led video creation. Not only that, educators may use teaching methods such as creating an activity where students will watch an educational video related to their topic and assign a task like video journal or improvised essay response. This will be great use in building students a skillset of knowledge and skills. Tools such as Youtube help students equip themselves with digital literacy skills and 21st century skills that are necessary for their future careers.

A multimodal analysis of meaning on Youtube is useful as students have different learning styles (absorbing, processing, and retaining information): visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic. Educators like me, should know that students have unique learning techniques for improving their learning efficiency.

Comparing Youtube with traditional notions of literacy, which mainly focuses on reading and writing traditional printed assessments, multimodal communication literacy is about understanding that there are various modes of communication, such as text, images, video, and audio. Therefore, Youtube is a useful tool for making students’ learning more engaging and interactive to their learning experience.
