In today's technology-driven world, it is evident that multiple modes of expression were incorporated in the communication process. One that is being referred to is called Multimodal which means using various forms of representation, such as text, images, audio, video, and gestures to convey meaning or idea and create a deeper understanding of the message given. This approach emphasizes that various modes can relay different aspects of a message which promotes and leads to a more comprehensive and engaging learning experience among students.

According to Gunther Kress (2010), prominent scholar in the field of multimodality, "Multimodality is the normal state of human communication... In a multimodal text, the modes work together to convey meaning, each mode contributing to the overall message.", which means that multimodality is a natural part of how humans communicate. He highlighted the importance or powerful impact on creating and understanding meaning wherein each mode adds its own layer to the overall message.

Some examples of Multimodal meaning are Interactive Digital Texts which is incorporating images, links, and multimedia to create an interactive reading experience; Infographics which is a combination of text, images, and graphics to present information in a visual engaging way; and Videos which is mostly utilized and evident in most classes today based on my experience and observation as well that makes the discussion more engaging while conveying a message or telling a story.

Additionally, multimodality supports flexibility learning in education as well as various learning styles and needs in relation to EDI. It also provides authentic assessment allowing students to demonstrate understanding in multiple ways and develops 21st-Century skills in communication, collaboration, and creativity which generally promotes efficiency and competence among learners.

Overall, by embracing multimodal meaning, educators can create learning experiences that are more engaging - captures attention and interest, inclusive which caters to different learning styles and needs, and bridges students to a complex concept understanding, allowing for more nuanced and improved communication in return.
