In the new generation, transmission of knowledge and skills requires a much more innovative approach where learners' participation should highly be involved. One educational approach that makes it possible is Active learning. This prioritizes student engagement, participation, and collaboration to foster deeper understanding and retention of knowledge. In comparison to the the traditional one which students are passive recipients, active learning encourages students to take ownership of their learning process.

According to Felder and Brent (2009), active learning is " anything course-related that students are called on to do rather than simply watching and listening to lecture and taking notes."

This only emphasizes the importance of student-centered activities which does not only promote and improve retention but also develop critical thinking skills when learners are included of the knowledge-making process.

Some examples of this are Project-Based Learning, which students are given opportunities to work on real-world projects and apply their acquired knowledge; Peer Teaching wherein students teach each other, reinforce their own understanding about the topics given and teach each other; and Think-Pair-Share wherein students where given a task to discuss a question in pairs before sharing with the class which I consider the most utilized and evident in most classes today based on my experience and observation.

However, this approach will not be feasible without proper implementation. As an educator, it is very important to begin with low-stakes activities in a certain way, then incorporate tools like collaborative documents or polls to incorporate the use of technology as well, encourage participation by creating a space for learners to share their ideas, and in order to attain a favorable outcome, it is essential to monitor their progress and make adjustments on strategies based on the given result.

Overall, by embracing active learning, educators can create an effective, more engaging, and student-centered learning environment where learners act not just the recipients of knowledge, but co-creators of it.
